Overview

On April 21, 2025, the Opioid Remediation Collaborative (ORC) launched a treatment navigation system designed to better serve individuals across its seven rural counties. This system was created to offer guidance, resource coordination, emotional support, and customized follow-up for those seeking help with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).

The new navigation model operates through the NMCAL-988 line, offering expanded support to individuals from ORC counties. Callers now receive customized warm hand-offs to prevention and treatment services, reduced barriers to care, and personalized follow-up calls to ensure their needs are met.

This system was built to directly address the gap in treatment access across New Mexico, where it was estimated in 2020 that only one in three individuals living with a Substance Use Disorder were receiving the care they needed.
