Overview

On May 13, 2026, the Opioid Remediation Collaborative (ORC) presented project updates to the Hidalgo County Commissioners, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen access to evidence-based behavioral health and substance use resources throughout the county.

One of the major updates included the introduction of Teen Seen, a free mobile app designed to support youth ages 13–17 who may be experiencing behavioral health or substance use challenges. The app connects young people with accessible, youth-friendly tools and resources intended to encourage early intervention and support.

ORC also announced the arrival of two new NARCAN distribution boxes, which will soon be installed at the DWI Building and Hope Haven. These publicly accessible boxes will expand community access to lifesaving overdose-reversal medication throughout Hidalgo County.

In addition, ORC shared exciting news regarding SB3 funding support for Hope Haven. ORC assisted in preparing the allocation request, helping secure funding that will strengthen local services and provide additional support for individuals and families in need.

ORC extends sincere appreciation to Hidalgo County leadership, Region 6 partners, and community providers for their collaboration and dedication throughout the fiscal year. Together, these efforts continue to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
